Overview: Whether you are a parent wishing to learn more
about your child’s emotional and psychological development, or perhaps you
wish to learn some therapeutic skills as a stepping stone to helping
children and families overcome the problems of childhood, this course can
help you.
The majority of students taking this course are new to child care and
psychology, and are looking for a course which can provide them with the
skills to improve their interactions with children, or perhaps assist in a
social work or therapeutic environment.
Support:
As a Direct Home Learning student, you will be allocated a
personal tutor who will mark and help you with your work. You will also
have access to our tutorial support service during normal office hours,
for all the practical advice you may need.
Assessment:
This course includes a number of tutor marked assessments that
you complete as part of your coursework and then forward to your tutor.
These consist of short questions on specific topics within the course.
Career prospects:
Distance learning courses are not cache accredited, but do
provide valuable underpinning knowledge towards higher qualifications. The
course is however generally sufficient to work as an assistant within a
nursery environment, or as part of a therapeutic team within a social work
or therapeutic environment.
