Overview:
Would you like a new career in book-keeping or accounts? Perhaps you would
like to learn how to keep your own books for a small business you run, or
provide a book-keeping service for other businesses in your area?
Assuming no prior knowledge, this course
provides a comprehensive and up to date training in basic book keeping and
accountancy skills, presented in a form, which takes particular note of
the needs of students working on their own. BB1 deals thoroughly with all
the basic aspects of book keeping, from double entry methods to the
preparation of year end accounts and balance sheets, including the use of
computer based account systems. You will learn how to set up and keep
accounts for a small business, how to prepare monthly and annual figures,
and how to present these in a format acceptable for taxation.
Support:
As a Direct Home Learning student you will be allocated a personal tutor who will mark and
help you with your work. You will also have access to our tutorial support
service during normal office hours, for all the practical advice you may
need.
Assessment:
This course includes a number of tutor marked assessments that you
complete as part of your coursework and then forward to your tutor. These
consist of dummy accounts to prepare and short questions on specific
topics within the course.

or government enterprise in the economy. Whilst many students simply take
